Lower Mole Countryside Trust

Promoting Countryside Management

News

Support sustainable use of the by-products of conservation work and buy your

Charcoal

from us.

The Lower Mole Countryside Management Project carries out a variety of scrub clearance tasks to improve grasslands and heathlands and woodland management tasks during the winter and produces various by-products, which are sold to raise funds for the Lower Mole Countryside Trust.

Charcoal is sold at £5 per bag, ready bagged. Plenty available now. The charcoal we sell is currently made on Epsom Common by volunteers, with the proceeds of sales split between the Lower Mole Countryside Trust and the Epsom Common Association. Charcoal produced from local hardwood is easy to light, clean burning and has very low ‘charcoal miles’. 90% of the charcoal used in the UK is imported. Much of this comes from tropical forests and mangrove swamps. Buy our charcoal and you are helping the management of local habitats. For more information on how you can help with local charcoal production see the events page.

Charcoal FINES are now available at £3.00 a bag. Ideal for adding to the compost to aleviate slimy results, also very useful for putting round plants to stop slugs devouring them.

These are available by collecting from our office, please phone 01372 743783 to arrange a time to come to ensure someone is going to be in.
